10 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
11 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
12 - Salt and black pepper, to taste

→ Garnish

13 - 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

# Directions:

01 - Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
02 - Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Toss shrimp with 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning and a pinch of salt until evenly coated.
03 - In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Sear shrimp for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove shrimp to a plate.
04 - In the same skillet, add remaining olive oil and butter. Sauté onion and bell pepper for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
05 - Stir in remaining Cajun seasoning. Pour in chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
06 - Add heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
07 - Return shrimp and cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat evenly in sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The sauce creates this magical balance between spicy and creamy that coats each strand of pasta perfectly, like a warm hug on a plate.
  • You can adjust the heat level to match anyones preference, making it the rare spicy dish that pleases both heat-seekers and cautious eaters at the same table.
02 -
  • Never rinse your pasta after draining - that starchy coating is essential for helping the sauce adhere properly to every bite.
  • The sauce might look too thin when you first add the cream, but trust the process - it thickens considerably as it simmers and then again as it cools slightly.
03 -
  • Save a few whole shrimp to place on top of each serving for presentation - we eat with our eyes first, and those beautiful pink curves rising from the creamy pasta make the dish look restaurant-worthy.
  • The reserved pasta water is liquid gold - keep it nearby as you combine everything, adding a tablespoon at a time if the sauce begins to thicken too much or seems to separate.
