# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It looks and tastes like something from a fancy restaurant but comes together in under an hour with mostly pantry staples.
  • The hot honey adds a sweet heat that makes every bite interesting, and you can dial it up or down based on who you are feeding.
  • It works equally well as a show stopping appetizer or a light dinner when you do not feel like anything heavy.
02 -
  • Do not skip the step of softening the goat cheese at room temperature, cold cheese will clump and tear the flatbread instead of spreading smoothly.
  • Slice the pears thinly and evenly so they cook at the same rate, thick slices stay too firm and can overwhelm the delicate balance of flavors.
  • Make the hot honey while the flatbread bakes so it is warm and pourable when you drizzle it, cold honey will not flow or soak in the same way.
03 -
  • Brush the edges of the flatbread with a little olive oil before baking to get an extra golden, crispy crust that looks bakery perfect.
  • Warm your honey gently and do not let it boil, too much heat can make it bitter and dull the floral sweetness that balances the chili.
  • Taste your goat cheese before spreading it, some brands are much saltier than others, and you may need to adjust the seasoning accordingly.
